Thiel turns his Antichrist thesis toward the defining technology of the moment as Nashville lecture series kicks off next week

The Nashville Antichrist Lectures, a four-week series presented by The Pamphleteer, in collaboration with Meriwether Academy, begins September 28 in downtown Nashville with a limited number of remaining tickets.
The lectures arrive at an extraordinary moment in the global debate over artificial intelligence. In March, Thiel brought his thinking on technology, the future and the Antichrist to Rome, holding a private lecture series just blocks from the Vatican. The talks placed his examination of Christian eschatology alongside questions surrounding science, technology and political power. Two months later, Pope Leo XIV issued Magnifica Humanitas, a major 40,000-word statement addressing artificial intelligence and the challenges it poses to human dignity, freedom and society.
In Washington, President Donald Trump has put artificial intelligence at the center of the national agenda, even publicly floating alternatives to the term “artificial intelligence,” including “Superior Intelligence.” On Wall Street, anticipation surrounding potential public offerings from AI giants OpenAI and Anthropic has focused investor attention on the enormous amounts of capital flowing into the industry.
From Nashville’s Music Row, where artists and songwriters are confronting questions of copyright and ownership, to classrooms, newsrooms and boardrooms across the country, artificial intelligence has become one of the defining questions of the moment. In Nashville, the proposed data center beside the Nashville Zoo has brought another dimension of the AI debate directly to the city’s doorstep.
Known for his early investments in transformative technology companies and his longstanding interest in technological progress, political power and Christian theology, Thiel will use the Nashville lectures to examine the people and ideas driving the AI era, the historical forces behind it and the consequences that could follow.
Each evening will feature an hour-long lecture followed by an hour of discussion and audience questions moderated by Peter Robinson, a Hoover Institution fellow and former speechwriter for President Ronald Reagan, giving attendees the opportunity to engage Thiel directly.
The four lectures will take place on consecutive Mondays—September 28, October 5, October 12 and October 19—in downtown Nashville. The precise location will be disclosed to ticket holders shortly before each event.
The series is sequential and cumulative and is intended to be experienced in its entirety. The events will be closed-door and off the record, with a no-device policy in effect.
