Cleveland-Area Developer Launches AI Transcription Tool That Never Stores Your Audio

TrainScription brings privacy-first, on-device meeting transcription to Chrome — no bots, no cloud servers, no audio files left behind

Cleveland, OH (PRUnderground) June 1st, 2026

A Cleveland-area software developer has launched TrainScription, a Chrome extension that transcribes browser-based meetings and calls entirely on the user’s own device — with no audio ever transmitted to a cloud server, and no audio file ever saved to disk.

The tool is available now on the Chrome Web Store with a free tier requiring no account or credit card, and a Pro tier available at a one-time founders price of $4.99.

TrainScription captures both sides of a conversation — the user’s microphone and the meeting tab audio simultaneously — and runs them through OpenAI’s Whisper AI model locally, using the browser’s own processing power. Every five seconds of audio is transcribed, converted to text, and then permanently discarded from memory. The audio is never written to the user’s hard drive. It simply ceases to exist.

“Most people assume transcription means someone, somewhere, is holding onto their audio,” said Terrance Henry, the tool’s developer and an Elyria native. “With TrainScription, you end the session with a transcript and nothing else. The audio is gone. You were a witness to what was said — this is no different than taking notes. Except the notes don’t require you to trust a cloud server with your conversation.”

The distinction matters in an era where major transcription platforms have faced scrutiny and legal action over how meeting audio is stored and used. TrainScription’s architecture is designed so that data transmission is not merely against policy — it is technically impossible. The extension contains no code to route audio externally, and Chrome’s own security framework enforces that constraint at the browser level.

The Origin: A Tabletop Game and a Universal Problem

Henry began building TrainScription out of personal frustration. As an avid tabletop role-playing game player, he needed transcripts of sessions filled with fantasy character names, invented place names, and game-specific jargon that AI transcription tools consistently mangled.

“The AI would hear a character’s name and produce something completely unrecognizable,” Henry said. “I started building a fix for my specific problem, and somewhere in the middle of building it I realized lawyers have the same problem with Latin legal terms, doctors have it with medication names, engineers have it with technical acronyms. My narrow use case was actually a mirror of something universal.”

The result is TrainScription’s defining feature: the Phonetic Brain. When the AI mishears a word, the user highlights the error, types the correct spelling once, and the system permanently learns that correction — applying it to every future transcript automatically, before the text ever reaches the screen. The Brain is portable, exportable, and grows more accurate with every session.

Built for Professionals Who Cannot Afford to Leak

TrainScription is positioned at a moment when AI-powered meeting tools are facing increasing resistance in professional environments. Several transcription platforms have been named in class-action lawsuits alleging that meeting audio was used to train proprietary AI models without participant consent. Enterprise IT departments have begun flagging meeting bots as security risks, and major platforms including Google Meet and Zoom have introduced warnings when third-party bots request access to calls.

TrainScription requires no third party to join the call. It captures audio from the browser tab directly, without any external participant accessing the meeting. Legal professionals, healthcare workers, financial advisors, and enterprise teams handling sensitive conversations can use the tool without routing audio through infrastructure they do not control.

Pricing: A Founders Rate Built to Last

The free tier supports 15-minute sessions and three Phonetic Brain training slots, with no account or credit card required.

The Pro tier is available now at a one-time founders price of $4.99 — a single lifetime payment with no subscription, no per-seat fees, and no recurring charges. Pro users receive unlimited session length, unlimited Brain vocabulary slots, full session export, and cross-device access. All future upgrades and new features are included automatically.

“Subscription fatigue is real,” Henry said. “Every productivity tool wants $15 a month forever. I wanted to build something where you pay once and it’s yours — and where the technology actually gets better the more you use it, not worse.”

The $4.99 founders price reflects the current feature set at launch. As significant new capabilities are released in upcoming versions, the price will increase. Users who purchase now lock in the founders rate permanently and receive all future enhancements at no additional cost.

Technical Foundation

TrainScription is built on the Manifest V3 Chrome Extension framework and runs Whisper AI via WebAssembly — a technology that allows desktop-grade AI models to execute inside a browser tab at near-native speeds. The AI model is downloaded once from the open-source model provider and cached locally. After that initial download, the tool operates with no internet connection required.

The extension is 278 kilobytes — a fraction of the size of comparable tools that bundle full runtime environments or rely on cloud processing.

TrainScription is available now on the Chrome Web Store.
